Geology

There has been evidence unearthed (ha ha) over the last few years that the Geologic Hadean period may have only lasted 100 million years or less instead of the 500 million previously supposed. It is possible that there were continents and oceans very soon after the formation of the earth. There may have been later episodes of remelting, but it is unlikely this was global in nature meaning that there should be some surviving large rocks from that era.
