The Weekend

Friday
On Friday, head58 was going to drive emilytheslayer and I to NJ so I could get my truck. As most of you know, I've been moving to MA and the truck was the last thing (mostly) that I had left in NJ. It was staying at my friend hagbardc's place in Morristown. We'd intended to leave at 6ish, after work, and get down to NJ by 11 at which point, head58 would turn around and head back to MA.
By a stroke of good fortune, all three of us got out of work at around 3 and we were able to leave my place by a little after 4.
On the way to NJ, we stopped in Vernon CT, off Rt. 84, to have dinner at Rein's Deli. Stopping here for dinner is quickly becoming a tradition. How can one not love their good food and surly waitresses?
We arrived in NJ around 10:00 and headed straight for hagbardc's place. He was still at work, but his lovely wife Stephanie gave me the keys to the Pathfinder (they had them so they could move it if it snowed, which it had, and Steph got to use 4-Wheel Drive for the first time). She gave a little tour of their place and then head58 headed back to MA with my dolly and emilytheslayer and I headed to our hotel for the night. We stayed at the Madison Hotel which was quite nice.

Saturday
The next day, we had breakfast with hagbardc and Steph at the Nautilus Diner in Madison. After, we went to Copper's old vet in Boonton to pick up more of her medicated food and a brochure for getting it through the mail. We then found a yarn shop in Boonton for emilytheslayer.
Our initial attempts to find yarn shops did not go well. We had a list and started in Denville. The first place was closed for Easter, the second and third seemed to be gone altogether and the fourth was just ok. There was one more shop on the list we were going to try, but we never even got there, as you'll see later.
From the 4th shop, we went to my comics store to make my last purchase from him. He was delighted to see me and apparently my buying a months worth of comics all at once made their Saturday. I chatted with the shop owner and his assistant for a little while and emilytheslayer found a few comics she wanted too.
Then we were Montclair bound! I took Em down Upper Mountain Road with all the mansions to gawk at and we parked down the block from my favorite bookstore in NJ: The Montclair Book Center. As we were walking to the book store, I happened to glance to the right and saw a sign in a door that said Stix -N- Stitches. I pointed it out to emilytheslayer and she confirmed it was a yarn store, immediately heading up the stairs. Apparently this was a good one as she became giddy upon entering the store. We wandered about for a bit as she looked at yarn and chatted with the proprietors. There was even some good stuff on sale and she got enough to make herself a big... um... thing. And some to make me a muffler. Not for the car, for my face when it gets cold! This store was so good we didn't even try to find the last one on our list.
After this, we enjoyed the Montclair Book Center and I didn't spend all my money. From there we had a lovely lunch at Rutt's Hutt. Em liked it! Despite the hot dogs looking scary, she ate one and proclaimed it good. From there it was a pleasant drive back to MA, but emilytheslayer was starting to feel sick.

Sunday
Sunday was far less eventful. emilytheslayer was indeed sick and she stayed home to work on her paper for school and to nap. I went to the storage space to drop off most of the crap in the truck and to dismantle the last of the shelves. While there I managed to break a small jar of miniatures paint. Fortunately, it was the same shade as the floor: grey. That all took me around 3 hours. When I got home, we went to dinner at an irish pub plaec who's name I can't remember, but was very good. There was a band playing there that consisted of 2 guitars, a banjo, a mandolin and 247 fiddles. More people kept showing up and joining in as we ate. It was fun. After, I tried to get Em a Cadbury Egg, but the market was all out. Sad. If anyone has one left, please save one for her? Maybe?
Also, I read somewhere about someone trying to do the Cool Hand Luke thing of eating 50 eggs at one sitting, but doing it with Cadbury Eggs. head58 it made me think of you.
Then I played some CoH. I'm glad I got too as I'd been missing it.

Anyway, that's my weekend. What'd you all do?
