Kurt Vonnegut

Has died. I'm inexplicably, but inescapably saddened by his death. I know the man only from his writings, there's no real reason for me to miss him as a person, but I think it comes from knowing that someone who's writings have given and will continue to give me joy no longer exists. I cried when Asimov died, I feel tears welling when I think about Vonnegut dying. I hope they, and the others that have and will draw forth this reaction, would have appreciated that their writings were important enough to me that their personal cessations saddened me.
