Thanksgiving (continued)

The trip down was long, but pleasant. It took us around 12 hours to get there instead of the scheduled 11 because they had to change engines in NYC. That's not really much longer than it takes us to get there by car. If we go the short route, traffic makes it take 12 hours. If we go the longer route, that naturally takes around 12 hours.

I realized when we were getting close that there are 2 stops for Richmond and if we took the first stop we'd shave 15 to 30 minutes off the trip, which is good. The train was an hour late, which is bad. After exchanging a few phone calls with the garrity household, we discovered the first stop was shorter for themto pick us up, which is good. When we got off the train, we discovered there were a TON of people getting off there and the station was a madhouse, that's bad. garrity arrived just as we got off the train, that's good. The parking lot was so crowded she had trouble getting in to pick us up, that's bad. We managed to walk around the station on the outside and miss most of the crowd, that's good. The crowd contained Monosorbate 80... that's bad. "Can I go now?" /Homer.

We had a nice, uneventful drive to their place and space_mice presented us with a lovely dinner of lamb footballs in tomato soup. Quite yummy. A Greek dish that has a name, but I'll be damned if I can remember it.

That night we hung out with the family and relaxed a bit.
